Analysis of Planning Reform written submissions published

The Scottish Government has now published an analysis of almost 400 written submissions made to the independent panel carrying out their review of the planning system..

Comments were made in late 2015 on the six key themes identified for the review as well as the wider performance of the planning system in Scotland. The themes were:
• Development planning;
• Housing delivery;
• Planning for infrastructure;
• Further improvements to development management;
• Leadership, resourcing and skills; and
• Community engagement

All responses to the initial call for submissions have been published online - http://www.gov.scot/Topics/Built-Environment/planning/Review-of-Planning/Call-for-Evidence-Responses/A-Z

The analysis report, prepared by Kevin Murray Associates and the University of Dundee is now available at the following link -  http://www.gov.scot/Resource/0049/00497228.pdf

Following the initial invitation for written submissions, an online discussion forum was opened in early 2016 to enable wider public engagement to take place. The online discussion yielded 114 individual 'ideas' and up to 19 comments on each one. In total, 377 comments were made on the 114 ideas (an average of 3.3 comments per idea). The discussion took place at https://ideas.scotland.gov.uk/independent-review-of-planning, with all contributions available to view, although the ability to contribute ended on 29 February 2016.

Oral evidence sessions also took place in early 2016, with the individuals and organisations invited to give evidence available at the following link - http://www.gov.scot/Resource/0049/00494257.pdf. This include the Chair and SDP Manager from the Aberdeen City and Shire SDPA.

The conclusions of the review are expected to be published shortly after the elections to the Scottish Parliament in early May 2016.
